Jewelry Issues:{necklaces}

Saturday, January 30th, 2010

I love jewelry. What women wouldn’t, right? I’d like to share some of my favorite designer necklaces. Some are funny and clever, some are meaningful and some are just pure gorgeous. I can look at them all day. Better yet, I would love to own them some day!

Little Thing I created!

Friday, January 29th, 2010

Inspired by the message in a bottle concept, gorgeous wedding dresses and recent great proposal stories that I’ve been hearing on the radio & blogs, I have made this little mini wedding dress in a bottle to congratulate new brides-to-be. This piece came together in an unexpected way. I found each piece from a different place and at different times (months apart). I was planning on using them in different projects that I had in mind. First I found this 3 yards of lace ribbons. Then I was looking for mini bottles. Last was the little vintage button that I found at a fabric store. One day, I was flipping through my other Bible, “the wedding magazines” and saw lots and lots of beautiful wedding dresses with laces and lots of layers. Then I Remembered that I had the lace ribbon and start making this tiny little mini dress and that was 3 months ago. I grabbed the vintage button I got, trying to place it on the top cork part of the bottle, Ha…it fitted (1 month after making my little dress). Then 2 days ago, my little wedding dress wish bottle was born. I hope you enjoy my little DIY mini dress in a bottle. Great wishes can come in a small and any type of package!
Note: The bottle height is 5″ includes the button and 1.75″ diameter at the bottom of the bottle

The Showcase of Henry Chen Photography

Wednesday, January 27th, 2010

I am so honored to be able to blog about this wonderful and talented photographer. I have been wanting to share his work with everyone I know for quite sometime but back then I did not have a blog and barely updated my facebook. So now is my chance to show off his amazing work. I wish that I could have my wedding again just so he could take our wedding photos.

I met Henry Chen of Henry Chen Photography through the amazing Trini, of Nozza Studio at the end of 2008 while I was designing some custom holiday collections and needed some great pictures of families, couples and even family pets. When I viewed his website for the first time, I was just in awe of how brilliant and gorgeous his work was. I emailed him and asked if I could use some of his images and if you know Henry, of course he said yes. Since then I have had a chance to work with him on several projects. We did a few photo shoots together for my website, and my holiday photo shoot session (the whole gang and all…me, my husband, my mom both crazy hyper dogs Rascal and Darla) and every time they turned out spectacular! Henry’s work is not only just beautiful but it tells a story as well. He captured everyone and who they are with his camera and turn the moment into a picture story book. By the time I was done viewing each of his photo sessions on his blog, I felt like I just finished reading a story about the couples. His work is full of passion, great technique and so personable. He is one of the most generous people that I have ever met. I would recommend Henry Chen Photography in a heart beat. Here are some of his images.

The benefit of living in Downtown LA is that you will never know who you will run into or what kind of opportunity will come your way. Recently, I had an opportunity to do an exchange graphic design service with the LA Fashion Corner for this evenings event (01.26.10) called Caring With Style : Pre-Grammy Awards Fashion Show Benefiting Communities Affected by the Haiti Earthquake. Here are the posters I designed  that will be displayed at the event. Thanks London Moore (The President/CEO of LA Fashion Corner)  for working with Peach Mailbox. I look forward to working with you again soon.

Fruits, Veggies, and Flowers

Friday, January 22nd, 2010
Since it has been pouring rain in California all week and possibly more next week, I thought about the collection that I designed last year called “The Sweet Organic Life”. I had such a great time coming up with funny, corky and thoughtful phrases about fruits, vegetables, and flowers. I had a chance to work with Monica Hoover Photography at her place/studio in San Diego,CA. We did product shots in her studio and lifestyle shots outside in her backyard. It was a perfect setting and exactly what I was looking for when I start thinking about the storyboard for the photo shoot. I got to wear my bright yellow rain boots for the first time and an apron that I got from Anthropologie. I love aprons and I don’t even really cook. For everyone sake, I shouldn’t cook. (Will wearing aprons become a fashion statement in the future? so I can wear them all the time outside??? I own about 5 aprons from Anthropologie). You can purchased these cards at the stores nearest you. Portions of the sales will go to The Fruit Tree Planting Foundation. Send someone special cards from Peach Mailbox : The Sweet Organic Life Collection and for a good cause as well. Happy Friday and Have a wonderful weekend everyone!
(Note: Photo by Monica Hoover and photo shoot set up by Peach Mailbox by Gamie K. & Monica Hoover. A6 folded card with matching printed envelope, printed on 100% cotton paper)

{Volume 3} Love Scented Cupcake Cards

Thursday, January 21st, 2010

I saved our favorite Valentine’s day cards for last…Volume 3. These are some of our newest scented cupcake cards for 2010 and of course they are also perfect for Valentine’s day and just because. All of our original scented cupcake cards are hand-stitched and scented just like real cupcakes. Confession…everytime I finish making scented cards, I have to rush out and get some cupcakes or something sweet. My studio would also smell like baking goods for a while. Sad to say I don’t bake much at all, but I can eat dessert really well! To purchase these yummy goodness cards, you can contact me directly by email gamie@peachmailbox.com or visit the store nearest you (list of stores are on peach mailbox website).
notes: flat print card, double sided with lines for your notes on the back (reference the blog post on January 14,2010) and rounded corners

I first met Monica Hoover (Monica Hoover Photography) when I was working at Harvey’s, The Original Seatbeltbag, as a lead graphic designer. We worked together on various photo shoots for the seasonal catalogs. Of course, when I started my own stationery business and need a photographer for my own photo shoots I knew exactly who to call. She is an amazing friend, photographer and she knows exactly what I’m looking for every time we did a photo shoot together.

Then last year, I received wonderful news that she was getting married. She contacted me for custom wedding invitations and I was thrilled to design something very special for her and Justin (her husband). She sent me various color palettes, the image of her dress, and the wedding theme. She was looking for a vintage element/graphic and she definitely wanted to incorporate the blue hydrangea onto the invitation set. {I added a little tag to hold all the pieces together}

I love working with Monica and I can’t wait to work with her again on the next photo shoot for Peach Mailbox. It was such an honor to be a tiny part of her special day! Thank you so much Monica & congratulations!
