I do believe that there is a reason why people cross paths. I had an opportunity to meet Kristin Dunn of kristin dunn bookbinding & design a couple of years ago and it was such an honor to have met an amazing person, talented artist and I am so proud to call her my friend. Kristin is the founder and designer of kristin dunn bookbinding & design based in Long Beach, CA. Her work is unbelievable and spectacular! All handmade and all about details. “WOW” was the word that was going through my head every time I saw her work.

DIY balsa wood place cards from Peach Mailbox is easy as 1-2-3!
1. Supplies you need.
2. Cut the balsa wood to the size that you need for your place card with xacto knife
3. Option 1: Mark the 2 dots on the balsa wood with a pen
4. Use the small wood hand drill (can be purchase at Micheal’s) and drill the hole to the 2 dots that you created
5. Insert a flower with stem attached to the first hole. Then bend it down and insert to the second hole. Insert another flower without looping back to another hole to create a little isle to hold up the card (as shown)
6. Option 2: draw 2 parallel lines (as shown) to create a slit. Then cut those lines with xacto knife
7. Inserts flowers with stem attached (as shown)
8 Option 3: same steps as option 1. To add more flowers, you can create as many holes you desire. Then insert flowers (As shown in option 1).

It was a love at first sight. This dress stole my heart and I just couldn’t stop thinking about it from the first time I saw it on the hangers. I had an opportunity and meet a beautiful and talented designer of L’ATELIER. I’ve been trying to think of an excuse to wear her dress and this dress in particular. Then I had a red carpet event that I was invited to. One thing that came to my mind was ”THE DRESS”.

I asked L’ATELIER’s owner/designer, Angela, if it would be ok if I wear her dress to this event. She said “YES!” right away, not even a pause. How sweet is that?!!! When I slipped into this dress (heart is beating fast), zipped it, and done! This dress fit and for a second, I felt like a Cinderella eventhough I was wearing my UGG boots at the time when I tried this dress on. Unfortunately, I couldn’t attend the event because of a few work deadlines. But I absolutely can’t just let this dress go and not have pictures of it. So I decided to do a mini photoshoot for the amazing Angela. As some of you may know, I love setting up and theme the photoshoot. That’s is part of peach mailbox company {stationery} {creative} {design} and this is catagorize as CREATIVE section. I’m not model what so ever (far from it),  but when you fell in love…would you let the one chance and opportunity slip away. No…not me!

I am so excited and honored to have had an opportunity to be on The Wedding Clique: Clique TV. Oh boy, was I super nervous … to be feature on The Wedding Clique and to be in the same room with such talented people. A wonderful event planner/stationer who have beautiful visions and a paper guru, a graphic designer/artist who is becoming one of the well-known stationery designer, a top notch photographer who captured many perfect moments, and a spectacular floral designer who make flowers, veggies, and fruits into these amazing piece of art!

I’ve been working with Trini of Nozza for over 2 years as one of her graphic designers, then I met Henry Chen of Henry Chen Photographer in the 6 months of working with Trini. Then I had an opportunity to meet Deanne of Bella Floire and of course a talented designer, Monica Major of Papercut Industries. They are truly successful entrepreneurs that I admire and respect so much. They are definately role models for me and for lots of people.

I was so honored to design one of my wonderful and sweet friend, Brianne Underwood’s graduation announcement. She will be graduating from Cal State Long Beach in communication studies in May 2010 and I am so proud of her! As a special gift, I designed the announcment for miss sweet pea Brianne for her awesome success. Happy Graduations to BU from Gamie K at Peach Mailbox!

What can I say about this photo shoot beside FUN FUN FUN! There are so many things about this shoot that really showed my personality and who I am. Nothing worked exactly as I had imagined in my head. The cupcake pinata would not break no matter how many times I hit it with a rolling pin or the tough cupcake that Nancy (the gorgeous model) tried to smear on my face. Instead of just stressing over it, we found solutions! *wink*. We found a way to break that unbreakable pinata and we decide to have a big cupcake fight. Talking about candid images, THESE were as candid as it gets.

This theme has been in my head for a really long time. With no budget and no time but just looking for an opportunity to make it happen. I found a way to share one of my imaginations. I had about 3 days (while working on freelance, orders, and etc) to get everything ready for this photo shoot. C4: color, contrast, candies and cards = all the things I love. Without my favorite & talented photographer Henry Chen of Henry Chen Photography and the sweetest & absolutely gorgeous model Nancy, this theme would still BE in my head. They helped me paint this idea and I can’t say enough how lucky I am to work with them.

The idea came from while I was driving in DTLA and saw a whole bunch of pinatas hanging around. Never hit one before and REALLY wanted to. So a couple months later, I drove by there again and I spotted cupcake pinatas. The light blub in my head just lit up. From the cupcake pinata, the whole thing began. The pinata stuffed with my greeting cards instead of candies. I basically combined things that I’ve never done before. Stuffing pinata, hitting pinata, a picnic full of candies with a girlfriend in a park and wearing cute dresses. 2 girls, one a bit dorky and corky (me) and a gorgeous and glamous full of beauty (Nancy), one drank milk and the other had tea, could be friends and enjoy the BFF moment together. Special thank to Nancy who is such a sweetheart, lovely and so brave (the whole pinata fell down from the tree was definately not part of the plan. So sorry). She is amazing and I can’t thank  her enough for helping me! Mr. Henry Chen, you are my hero! Couldn’t have done it without you as always.  Chiali Meng Wedding Makeup, you gave me my nose, eyes, and long hair! You are Awesome Blossom. Lastly, my friend Gretchen who helped me find the location. You all are my SUPER STARS.

I am so proud to have met Gretchen of GGL management and to be called her friend. Gretchen and I both met when we worked at an agency a few years back. I am so honored to have an opportunity to work on her company stationery (sneak peek). She manages an amazing band called EVOLOVE from the ground up and they are booming!!! I also worked on EVOLOVE CD, DVD sleeves and T-shirt designs for the band. She will be working wtih one of my favorite jewelry designers, Liza Shtromberg, based in LA. It is so much fun working with her and I learn so much from her. She is very talented and I respect her so much. I will be working with her more and more in the future so please stay tuned everyone.

I can’t begin to tell you all how much I adore Cyndi, the fabulous owner of this elegant and beautiful store called Devynn’s Garden. As most people know “It’s all about who you know” and “connections, connections and connections” to assist you in getting into a dream job that you always wanted, and for me to get my cards into stores. I, myself truly believe in that. I would never have had an opportunity to work with Cyndi, who is a loving mother, talented floral designer and has awesome taste in fashion if it was not for my good friend BT who told me about her store a year and a half ago. I am truly honored to have her shop carry my line of greeting cards. I also worked with her last year to design her holiday cards, hang tags for her fabulous clothes and her shopping bags.

Devyn’s Garden has fresh flowers sitting out in cute buckets EVERYDAY when you walk in from one of the entrances. No dead flowers in this Garden that’s for sure, fresh and colorful all the time. When you walk into her shop, it smells amazing! Then I always get a happy greeting right when I walk in from her staff. eventhough they already know who I am, I still get the same sweet and happy greetings. As some of you may know, I’m very big when it comes to customer service. So thumbs up from me for sure!!!

Devynn’s garden has a total of 3 locations, Sunset Beach, Long Beach and Seal Beach. Sunset beach also has a boutique shop store front. I called this location “THE HUB”. I reference this section of the shop to myself as a “WANTING EVERYTHING ZONE”. I love all the clothes that she carries, the fun jewelry, purses, candles and other accessories. She also has the creative ways to merchandise her products (so loving that). It is absolutely outstanding! Each shop has different ways to set the shops apart from one to another. It could be little things or big things but I love catching them. When you look up towards the ceiling at one of the walls, you see the collage frames full of her children’s photos. Then the picture of her and her husband on another wall. On one of the counters, she actually displays the holiday card that I designed for her which has all of her children’s images. I respect Cyndi so much because not only does she run 3 successful stores, is creative and one of the nicest people I’ve ever worked with. She can juggle everything and still stays family oriented. Cyndi, you are my role model and I am so glad that I have an opportunity to working with you.
